Someburros Familia

Local. Authentic. Traditional

Local

Here at Someburros, we believe that the most important factor to our restaurant is the community that surrounds it. Opening the first location in Tempe over 30 years ago, we have and will continue to always take pride in the loyal Arizonans who enter our doors everyday. The community support we receive is one of the fundamental elements that keeps our restaurants thriving in all seasons of life. With over a dozen restaurants around the valley and many more to come, we also immensely value the proximity of our locations being close to where the recipes and values first originated from, Sonora, Mexico. Our roots began in Magdalena, a small town located in the heart of Sonora, where community was and still is the foundation of success. This principle has been passed down through generations of the Vasquez family, and continues to impact the way we run our stores. From displaying individually crafted community calendars of all surrounding events at each store to supporting local schools and businesses, Someburros will always strive to be the local Mexican restaurant that feels like home to all who visit.

Authentic

Each ingredient that enters every meal on our menu is intentionally chosen to highlight the Sonoran way of eating. With recipes perfected over decades, we aim to stay true to the simple beginnings of the Vasquez family lineage by bringing you mouthwatering dishes that are only of Mexico’s finest. The use of thin flour tortillas and slow-cooked delicious beef are only a few of the aspects of our food that makes it some of the most authentic Sonoran plates in Arizona. We also ensure consistency through the individuals in our family kitchen who have been whipping up the same Someburros dishes for 20+ years. To say they know these recipes like the back of their hand is a true understatement! We want every customer, no matter if they are up north in Flagstaff or in the valley in Gilbert to experience the same comforting and delicious meals that we first opened up with, authentic Sonoran-style food.

Traditional

The core of our beloved Mexican restaurant will forever be the story of Nana Isabel and the impact that she had on the hearts and souls of all of her family. Gathering all of her recipes to share at the adored Ponchos in South Phoenix, her son, George, and his wife, Mary, set the Mexican restaurant precedent by creating a delectable menu that came to inspire the Someburros menu you see today. Taking over the business a few decades later, their son, Tim Vasquez, leads with the Sonoran pride that he was raised on, and continues to run the company with the traditional values of integrity, respect, and teamwork that humbly led generations of his family and Someburros to their successes. Although times continuously change, our promise to you is that we will never stray away from the traditional recipes and morals that first began in the small home of Nana Isabel Vasquez.
