Tempe Tradición: Someburros Launches JA BizTown Storefront
We’re thrilled to share a very special milestone with you, familia! Someburros officially opened a brand-new educational storefront at JA BizTown in Tempe, in partnership with Junior Achievement of Arizona.
At JA BizTown, students across the state immerse themselves in a vibrant, kid-sized town where they take on roles such as citizens, employees, business owners, and leaders, and now, future leaders can become a CEO, Marketing Director, or Restauranteur at Someburros’ new student-run business.
“Tempe is where it all started for us and it remains central to our identity as a locally rooted, family-owned business,” said Tim Vasquez, President and Owner of Someburros. “It’s a full circle moment for our family to give back to the city while inspiring the next generation of leaders through Junior Achievement of Arizona.”
The ribbon cutting ceremony brought together members of the Vasquez family, Tempe Mayor Corey Woods, leaders from Junior Achievement of Arizona, Tempe Union High School District board members, Tempe City Council members, and esteemed guests from the Tempe community. Guests also heard from a student who had participated in the JA BizTown program, sharing his story of how the experience impacted his growth and inspired his future goals.
“Our family and team have always been committed to strengthening the communities we serve,” added Amy Vasquez, who oversees Community Relations at Someburros. “Through this partnership, we’re not only giving students a chance to explore leadership and teamwork, but we’re also continuing our mission of meaningful community giveback.”
This milestone held special meaning for us. Tempe is where Someburros first began nearly 40 years ago. Partnering with Junior Achievement provided an opportunity to honor those roots while giving back to the community and helping to inspire the next generation of leaders.
